Meet the members of our team
Introducing the team that makes up Not Just A One Trick Pony:
Rebecca Neale I'm the owner and rider based in Wiltshire. I have been riding since the age of 5 but didn't have my own horse until I was 15. I have been riding different horses and ponies for other people most of that time. I enjoy a variety of equestrian sports including showing, hunting and 2015 saw us trying eventing for the first time.
When I'm not with the ponies, which isn't that often, I enjoy spending time with my 7year old niece Chloe. I am also a keen baker and especially like making horsey cakes or cupcakes. I fence judge at both unaffiliated and British Eventing events along with dressage judging and judging at local shows. I think it is important to give something back to the equestrian world as without the volunteers we wouldn't be able to compete.
Pentrefelin Layla Layla is a Welsh section D, out of Pentrefelin Poppy and by Thorndonpark Jet. I bought her as an unbroken 3yo on the 28th July 2007. I have really enjoyed producing her and creating what I think is my perfect allrounder. I bought her to have as a summer project but 8years on she is still here.
Layla and I have competed in unaffiliated and affiliated dressage, unaffiliated showjumping, combined training, hunter trials as individuals and pairs, showing in flat and working hunter, concours d'elegance and also hunt with the Duke of Beaufort. She is snaffle mouthed for all disciplines and always tries her best to please.
In 2013 we had an amazing showing season, bringing home 12 first placings, 3 champions and 1 reserve from just 10 outings. One of those champions was from the South West Pony Association were we won the Open Cob Open Working Hunter Championship.
On the 19th July 2012 Layla gave birth to Squirt. She was an excellent mum but I much prefer having her to ride.
Plaidyparc Diamond Smuggler Squirt is a Welsh D x German Warmblood. Out of Pentrefelin Layla and by Sempers Spirt, I bred to produce a slightly bigger ride for the future to aim at eventing. He was born on the 19th July 2012 at the yard with my parents and I there. I knew he was going to be coloured as the stallion is homozygous but hadn't expected quite such long white legs!
He attended his first show in May 2015 hosted by Avon&Borders WPCS and held at West Wilts Equestrian Centre. He had only been loaded twice in his life previously but was happy to go alone in the trailer. Once there he behaved impeccably and was complimented on his beautiful manners, no one believed it could be his first show. He was placed in all three classes in good company and took 1st place in the 2&3yo Welsh Part Bred class.
At home Squirt is a lovely boy to have around, he adores my niece and she can practice his ground work with him. I have high hopes for him in the future but will be in no rush with him.
Pebbles is an 10yo Jack Russell. She loves to be out and about with me but also loves sleeping on my bed. Everyone who meets her loves her and her energetic madness. She enjoys days out fence judging and fancies a career in tractor driving when she can work out how to reach the pedals! She has 8 children one of which we kept and also has some grandpups.
